Routine Dental Examinations

Dental examinations form an essential part of your preventative healthcare. They are critical for maintaining and ensuring that your teeth and gums are healthy. Dr. Dee encourages patients to visit every six months for routine check-ups, and because we are a family dental practice, bring along your loved ones too.

What happens during a dental examination?

A dental examination has two main parts: the check-up and the scale and polish. During the check-up, Dr. Dee will assess your teeth and gums and perform diagnostic procedures, such as X-rays, to look for cavities, decay, and other dental problems. In addition, she will discuss your dental hygiene routine and advise treatments or habits to follow to maintain your oral health.

What information do I need to provide for my dental examination?

If you are a new patient, you will be required to complete a new patient form and provide your medical aid details (if applicable). During the examination, Dr. Dee will ask you several questions but be prepared to discuss:

  • Your medical and dental history
  • Any medications or treatments you are currently on
  • If you suffer from dental anxiety or dental fears

This way, Dr. Dee can better understand your overall dental health.
