Little ones of all ages are welcome at Dr. Dee Aesthetics. We advocate for overall family well-being and believe prevention starts at home and as early as a few months old. Unfortunately, children are more prone to dental complications than adults and require specific care as their teeth, gums, and jaws develop. However, with our comprehensive treatments, your little ones are in capable and caring hands.
You will notice that between 6-12 months, your child may develop their first tooth. This is an exciting moment, and the best way to celebrate is to arrange a dental visit for your child's dental journey. Our primary focus for paediatric dentistry is getting your child acquainted with dental visits and procedures and prioritising prevention for common childhood dental issues. Dr. Dee will assess your little one's teeth in a fun and friendly environment, discussing any issues and ensuring your child is part of the process. As they grow, these check-ups will become more advanced until your child is ready for standard check-ups.
Dental hygiene is vital for everyone, especially children, as baby teeth are more likely to get cavities and decay. Therefore, oral cleanings are critical for your child's dental visits. Dr. Dee performs gentle dental cleanings that thoroughly remove bacteria and plaque while allowing your little one to get used to the process. It's equally important to ensure your child follows a proper dental hygiene routine at home, starting with toothpaste application as soon as the baby teeth arrive. As your child ages and their baby teeth start to fall out, we can implement more advanced cleaning techniques.
Baby teeth are notoriously vulnerable to tooth decay and infection but must be protected to assist with your child's development. Even though baby teeth eventually fall out, they help your little one learn to eat and speak and assist with jaw growth. If your child has a cavity or deep grooves, we provide fissure sealants to fill the openings and protect the natural teeth from further damage. These are made from a resin material and are applied to the clean tooth in layers that we cure with a specialised light. The material is highly durable and will remain on the baby tooth until it falls out.
Our top priority is to save the natural tooth by any means necessary, but in cases where this is impossible, we can extract the tooth. Baby teeth that have been damaged beyond repair and cannot be saved by restoration are gently pulled from the socket. Tooth extractions aren't fun for our young patients, but we do our best to ensure pain-free and comfortable experiences that help your child feel at ease.
