Crowns, Bridges & Veneers

Teeth damaged due to cavities, decay or infection, can be restored using custom-made dental prosthetics like crowns, bridges and veneers. These are durable false tooth fittings that protect the natural tooth from further damage and can be made to resemble your natural smile.

Crowns

Dental crowns or tooth caps are common prosthetics that fit over a natural tooth or dental implant. Crowns are tailored to your natural bite and work well for teeth that have been damaged but are still intact below the gum line.

You may need a crown to:

• Cover a tooth with a large filling
• Cover a tooth that has had a root canal
• Cover a tooth damaged from decay
• Cover a chipped, cracked or broken tooth

During the procedure for a crown, Dr. Dee will take an impression of the tooth used to create the custom crown and will prepare the tooth. Once the crown is ready, she will shape the natural tooth and fit the crown to check its accuracy. After any adjustments, the crown is cemented to the natural tooth. This will function exactly like your natural tooth, so you won't have to change your habits.

Bridges

Dental bridges are a group of one or more false teeth that fill a gap in your smile. They are made to match your natural teeth and are connected by crowns or a metal framework on the abutment (adjacent) teeth. When you are missing teeth, it can cause the remaining teeth to shift and lead to bite problems. Bridges are an affordable way to restore your smile.

The procedure for bridges includes taking impressions of your natural teeth and bite, preparing the abutment teeth and cementing the bridge by connecting it to adjacent crowns. This process can be lengthy, but it will fill the gap in your smile and restore your ability to eat and speak confidently.

Veneers

Dental veneers are cosmetic tooth shells that fit over the front of the teeth to correct various imperfections. These are made to your preferred shape, colour and size to enhance your smile. Made from high-quality porcelain, our veneers provide an optimal solution to correct your tooth concerns.

Veneers are ideal if you want to conceal:

• Gaps between the teeth
• Misshapen or short teeth
• Discolouration
• Chips or cracks

Throughout the process of receiving veneers, Dr. Dee works with you to ensure your needs and goals are met. She will take impressions of your teeth and provide examples of shapes and shades you can select for your final veneers. The impressions are used to create custom veneers, and once any adjustments have been made, they will be cemented to your teeth.
